"Rain poured down over a wasted civilisation. As the wind howled across the abandoned streets, and thunder rumbled in the distance, the two lone squadmembers knew it. They knew this must be how the prey felt, in the eyes of a predator. And as the rumbling of the thunder faded away, and the roar of the masses drew near, they knew that, sadly, they were right.
His screen was painted red. Her tail twitched, as she felt the presence of the enemy. But as ready as they were for almost anything, they weren't for this...
One mangled person crawled onto the street, then two. They were soon followed by more. Many more.
Hundreds, if not thousands of them streamed out from the shadows. Their distorted howls and cries for flesh echoed across the no-longer-empty streets, as the two teammates realised that they might've gotten more than they bargained for. But as little as there was, there was only one thing they could do; Fight. Resist. Survive.
Guns leveled, bullets slammed into their respective barrels, as the first of the hordes cried and leapt for their prey. The crackle of gunfire tore through the screams of the tainted, and the first of the monsters fell to the floor. Yet as an unstoppable tidal wave, more came streaming in, thirsty for revenge for their mangled bodies. Revenge on those that had never even harmed them.
The rattling of gunfire faded away into the screams of the plagued. More and more of the tormented fell, their bodies torn apart by gunfire. Yet the group seemed neverending, and they crawled ever closer...
Shell after shell, clip after clip, they fought. Beast after beast, wave after wave, they fell. Yet as the gunfire and screams slowly faded away, all that was left was the sound of a final casing, as it bounced off the floor.
The rain once again clattered down on the city, as if it tried to wash away all sins. All that remained was silence...

Well, I must admit that this must've been THE biggest project I've ever worked on. It took me ages, and killed my brain, especially after that last bit of extra work (60 hours near-nonstop working...)
This is for the art trade for TheBlueFeline from Deviantart. What started as a faint idea ended in this huge drawing. (Hey, huge for my standards, I guess)
I think the PSD.File is about 266MB, at 4400x3400px. Both me and my computer are kinda worn out, now. A good night's rest'll take care of that, a bit of doodling of my characters. Drawing my anthro characters seems to calm me down, works great as relaxation...
So, yeah, that's about it...?
I really hope you like it, Bluefeline, cuz I spent so much time on it. But I don't think I have to worry about that too much...
Put a huge amount of time and effort into this one, and it was totally worth it. You helped me out a lot, and yer a great friend, so this is kinda my way of thanking you.
