I told
eagle1 that I would post a picture of this one. I saw it on final on my way in to work the other day and had the opportunity to go and snap a pic.
I bet she's fun to fly...

most Cub touch down at about 30 to 35. The VGs help with keeping the airflow stuck to the airfoil at high angles of attack so you have control. Yes I do understand you are trying to be funny... I do have Cub time on floats, Dad was the master of the Cubs, 5000 hours in one tends to do that for you.
Yes it is. But where you are the main pilot for a mining camp and you are going all the hauling, hours add up over a few years time. Dad had been flying 66 years when he had his stroke and I know he had over 20,000 hours about ten years before he had the stroke. He only put hours in his log book to prove he was current most of the time. The last eight to ten years he mostly flew for enjoyment anyway.
Dads 150 hp Super Cub on floats would beat a 180 hp Super Cub off the water with a like skilled pilot. The O-320 is 40 odd pounds lighter than the O-360 At cruise speed they were about the same speed with in a few knots the added speed was not worth the fuel burn needed to get it. Most Super Cubs like around 85 to 92 on floats.
There are a number of Cub clone kits on the market today and this one has no flaps so it's hard to tell who made the kit that it was built from. One of the give a ways is the prop flange or lack of and the door on the right side. There are a few other things that stood out saying it's not a Piper Cub. But that doesn't detract from the nice look it has... I wouldn't mind it being in my hanger!
Yes and no. I haven't flown in several months, and life keeps getting in the way from me flying as regularly as I'd like. Since the time that I worked at the airport (our company was forced out of business by a crooked bank; more info can be provided if you want), the cost of rental has increased quite a bit, I moved farther away from the airport so now it's a good 45 minute drive, and no other closer airports that I can find have aircraft rental. I love flying and I miss it, but it's just no longer convenient to keep up with.
I don't have any pasture on my property, no. I have a long driveway that runs along a corn field, but with the power line that runs down the driveway it would be a little dangerous to be taking off a small plane from there. I'd love to have a little aircraft, though. I was thinking about getting one of those weight-shift aircraft, the kind that look like a pipe frame body with wheels dangling under a hang glider style wing. While they're much cheaper than an actual airplane, they're still several thousand dollars that I'm reluctant to spend. It's rare to find one under $2000, which I'd be willing to pay, and when I do find them they're usually junk or on the other side of the country.
All the discussion got me curious. Here's the scoop on the plane, manufacturer and owner: http://flightaware.com/resources/re.....stration/N56LC It gets around too from what I can tell. Where was this pic taken?
Oh, and while I was snooping, I thought you'd appreciate this - http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1189279/
