The Haesai hold the belief that the gods are children (if very powerful ones) and must be protected from harm. They enshrine the places they hold sacred - unnaturally clear pools, mysterious forest glades, intriguing rock formations - and train their best warriors to be steadfast and vigilant, impassable walls to the wicked but faithful guides to those who seek enlightenment.
Of course, a kingdom can't support its warriors without lots of farms and craftspeople and traders, and this is where the other face of the Haesai shows itself - those who don't take on the duty of a holy guardian are free to be pleasure-loving people who enjoy good food and good company, even if their manners and earthy senses of humor can seem crude to outsiders. But, as they say, the gods are children, after all. Why shouldn't they occasionally let themselves be just as juvenile?
