here's a picture of a modern koopa looking back on those ones from the original mario bros. game.

this is also my first peice that is coloured digital, instead of by hand. normaly I do the sketching in pencil, before finalizing it in ink and then use pencil crayon to colour it. that is followed by scanning it and cutting out the background and tweaking it a bit to look less scribbley. in this case I scanned it after doing the lineart and just filled it in with solid colour and some overlaying textures.
