I feel sorry for Marine on this panel, I absolutely hate how Aquala emasculated him in front of the kids and made him seem like a fool, my heart goes out for him :(

I dont know if one can call that emasculated. After all they act very casual around each other and around their childs, and as Aquala poin it out it isnt something they havent seem before, plus they are on their home. Could undestand it if it was in public but the context is different here and I have stablish Aquala´s character as the one that give a bit of reasoning to Marine and control more his impulses and pride.

Plus the scene is just comic relif X3

Thanks for the reply, I just didn't like the description where it said Marine is still "Aquala`s bitch" and when she said women make the rules of the house and men should know this, it doesn't fit well with me at all, but I digress if it is just a comic relief strip then I will pay no heed to it anymore.

Oh, that one. The "Aquala´s bitch" is just a joke in term of characters, personality-wise and position. After all Marine is the leader and people probably dont straigh up insult/yell or even rise their voice at him, but as I said Aquala is his wife and she probably doesnt fall into the fear of Marine´s position, plus they are married and in their home so is natural that both of them act really casual around each other. Could understand the pride thing if she do it in front of the whole town, but they are on their home and I think it shouldt be readed beyond the comic relif.

About the females as rulers of the house, that one is more a cultural construct Ive done for lacertilias as try to create a unique culture for this fantasy world. It was based losely on a real social construct of medievals times and a little bit of vickings in which the role of the females were of administrator of the house and they have to know what materials was needed for their house (like the amount of food, furs, etc.) Lacertilias function on certain ways, and houses are seen like spaces made for females while other are made exclusive for male (like forges) and other neutral. Still, lacertilias function in a patriarchal society and sometimes it tend to favor males a bit more.

But we also have to consider the personalities we have here, Aquala is not a soft person, and in term of power she is the matriarch and sometimes she is used to bring Marine back to reality, as he can let his pride take the best of him. This scene is not a big deep thing but I try to make character act according to their personalityes and the power they have around each other and sometimes done it one a comical way.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to take this personal, where I live I just keep seeing fathers get treated like fools with no respect and when they do something right and feel proud of them selves they get shamed on or they hit them for "comical effect" and I really don't find that funny, and I really do not want to see that anymore, I want to see Marine treated with respect that he deserves, and I hope Aquala does that, after all he is the patriarch right? and feel proud for that fact, but it's your comic, I didn't mean to intrude, is just that it really bothered me, sorry.

Im ok as long as the discution is keep polite, so dont worry, you dont need to like everything on the comic and Im very aware that is imposible to do something that please everybody.

Mmmm well, is true the the Incompetent-dad-Competent-mom are a really common trope. But I dont feel Marine and Aquala relationship is like that. I feel that I try to do Marine as a competent individual that tend to slide in littles things because of his pride and Aquala is always there to help with the small details that may look unimportant at the moment. Now and then they have this little comic relif moment in where the relationship doesnt look so formal with each other.

Again, you dont have any obligation to agree with it and I more than aware that nor everybody will agree with everything of what happend into the comic, as long as is keep polite im ok.

no problem at all, as I said, as long as it is polite im fine, and is not needed to safe for yourself what you think dont fit. Probably wont change everything but it help open my perspectives.
