A side by side comparison of DVC and PhazonAlloy (PA).
DVC and PhazonAlloy work with in different Genres. DVC is Toony and Semi-realist while PA is monsters and horror. They both rock their respective genres!
PhazonAlloy is more of a 'masculine' or "Feral" work. You need some more foam work on his to make it look great once furred*, but is more versatile in this way.
Dvc is 'feminine' and Semi-toony silhouette.
Quality: Same, both blanks I got were "damages" DVC was thin and had a split lip. PA's the Layers were splitting apart. Both heads were comped, and the fixes were easy.
Fit: Same, both needed the sides of the mask to be flared out a bit for 24+ inch heads
Vision: DVC, has better vision due to the angle and length of muzzle. But you are not flying blind in PA's.
Bonus: PhazonAlloy, you can get hand sculpted lips, teeth and Painted eyes installed on PA's (Plus LED work). DVC can't due to being too busy and not having any molds.
Price: PhazonAlloy: Cut/Hinged+Jawset+3D 3mm eyes+mesh+elastic+eyelids: $160 While DVC Cut/Hinged+3D 3mm eyes+mesh+elastic+eyelids: $188 (LEDs extra)
Over all Winner: Consistently open and producing custom quality sculpts and epic painted eyes for all, at affordable price, PhazonAlloy is the champ for this round!
*You can't just fur a raw resin blank! Add foam, please!

I have to say, I don't really like the DVC blank at all.
It just doesn't look like a horse to me.
The PhazonAlloy blank has an... acceptable nose shape, but that's the only thing I like about it.
I hope I don't sound like I'm being mean! Just that I've spent rather a long time looking at horse faces.
I love horses ^U^
Anyways, I've NEVER seen a single horse blank I liked, untill I saw this one.

Actually I would argue the PhazonAlloy's looks more like a deer than horse!
You can hurt my feelings I just bought them! But I am not around horses, just dogs and house cats.
You also gotta remember that not all suits are going for accurate real life horse shape (most just make Digitigrade legs anyways)

I got a few more pics you you want me to post them
Since you are around horses does the mask I made hold up? http://fav.me/d63iz9z

To really be fair in my descision, I opened your front view in paint, and lined out where I would put the padding, ears and other details.
The PA blank needed quite a bit of padding, seeing that it has no cheeks and brow structure which all horses have.
But after I drew that on and gave it some long eyelashes to give it a more relaxed look, it looked just fine.
From the front, the raw blank somehow calls to mind a dragon x3
I think it's the eyelids.
The DVC blank had the cheeks just right, but the brow was far too high and the snout is just way messed up.
I couldn't get it to look right at all.
It just has the nose, barely even a bottom lip, and no top lip.
I suppose a toony suit has more artistic freedom than a realistic one, though, so I can't say anyhing for that.
As for a realistic head, I'd prefer the PhazonAlloy blank ^U^
For the head you made, that's really beautiful!
It looks more like a draft horse than the horses I'm around, though, because it has more of a "roman nose".
But the face is beautiful.
If I'd made it, though, I'd change the ears a little bit, because they're a little flat looking.
I made a [unfinished because I'm lazy] set of horse ears, once.
I gave them the normal shape at the top, and flared the bottom out so I could curl them inwards and sew the edges together, to make a 3d ear with the "cupped base" hoofed mammals have :3
Heheh, sorry for rambling! xD

It is probably the need for more foam that makes PA's look like a deer to me. I did add a bit of foam and asked for a stern eyes. http://fav.me/d5u8ncs
That is it, the cheeks. Horses got 'em cheeks! Is it the angle of the snout? The plus side of it pointing down more is a smaller blind spot. It dose need lips. I was hoping that DVC would make a silicone set. So squishy.
Yay, I got it right!! He wanted a 'light' draft horse, with a stern look. You are right the ears are one denominational.
Please ramble on!

Ah, sorry I hadn't seen this message!
Hmmm, no, what I think bothers me about the snout is that it's so round and little.
I geuss that's how most people sort of make horses more human like, but I just prefer horsies to have big noses :3
Anyways, as for the nose you made, AHHHHHHH THOSE NOSTRILS ARE SO PERFECT 8D
You did really well! That's exactly how they're supposed to be shaped ^U^
