Airsoft guns are spring powered, where bb guns are gas powered. Also, airsoft fires 6mm plastic shot where bb guns fire 4.5mm metal pellets. ALSO, airsoft guns are rated safe to use, where many bb guns are genuinely lethal.

Weird. My family used to go hunting with those 'safe to use' airsoft guns. They brought back a fair few rabbits who'd disagree with you there.
On the other hand, I have a relatively weak (and spring-powered) BB gun that legitimately can't hurt anything. There's gas-powered versions of both, and spring powered versions of both too; but air rifles are typically more dangerous.
Hell, even air pistols break the skin at a fair distance.

Airsoft guns can be pretty fuckin brutal lol, but most don't really hurt unless someone sprays a couple bb's on one spot or hits bare skin.
