Today is Thanksgiving in the US, so I found it funny that this guy decided to visit my family on the back deck. xD Though, it's no surprise. They are here all year round. I love my turkey neighbors~

This turkey doesn't look stupid like other turkey's I've seen. I shall not eat it! I love its feather coloring though. The ones I see are usually brown /gray. This one has some reddish / orange in it :D

I looked it up myself, and I am sure it's male. It has a beard, which isn't shown in this picture, and it says only 10-20 percent of females get the beards, and the feathers are actually very brightly colored in person.

Ahh, I couldn't see the beard, so yeah. Must be one of the younger ones though, since it doesn't have a wattle developed.

Still, cute pic. I'm surprised they get so close, even if they don't get hunted.

It said that both males and females grow those, and the one around their beak they can contract and grow at will. D8

Beautiful bird and a great photo. From what I understand, smart too. Wild turkeys are very smart things, unlike the domesticated version.
