Part of an aardvark trade with Meg Lyman, who drew me a Baardvark. :] She asked for a royal aardvark, and...my mind went blank. I originally thought 'Tsaardvark' would be a good pun, but I then realized that I don't know anything about Russian royalty. So then I made up this guy, because Meg loves her octopuses.

*blushes* Not really- I was a member of the SCA for a couple of years and got into a bit of historical costuming... And I just like to make odd clothes. Heh.
I might have the terms messed up- but heraldic livery or House livery seem to be a common names for a garment that the servants wore to identify which Lord was their master. A king didn't often wear livery, unless he was performing official functions, such as holding Court or leading a battle. My knowledge is more than a little spotty there- wars and Court manners weren't an interest of mine. I just wanted the pretty clothes. *chuckles*
