Paper with a rougher tooth take a lot more pigment. With really sharp pencils, careful layering of colors, and a light touch, tiny details can be rendered. I also have a technique where I glide sharp pencils over saturated paper to cut away some of the wax and pigment and at the same time, draw super fin and subtle details. I hope this helps. :3
