Well, you could always claim it was just a random painting you got somewhere that just *happened* to have both a raccoon and a gecko on it - what a coincidence, your two favorite animals! ;3

While testing out at the mosaic possibilities of this image I found that it has an embedded color profile/pallet from you scanner that causes it to display darker...odd

I know, there were a bunch of pieces I scanned in where that happened - they looked fine on my computer, so it wasn't until a customer told me that it looked strange on *her* computer that I realized something was wrong. I was able to fix the settings, but some pieces needed some serious color-tweaking afterward (not all of them, oddly); and by that time I'd already shipped the painting off to you :( I have a new scanner now which actually works with my new computer, so those issues are all in the past... maybe you could scan the painting in on yours?
