"Hunt down and murder" sounds like it's just for entertainment. He has a very legitimate reason for revenge and liberally dispensed death penalty isn't too harsh considering the circumstances.
Now imagine he was a good little citizen and called the police. What would happen then? Most likely get shot because he didn't put down his weapon when they got there to gather information.

Trust me, what he's doing still isn't justifiable homicide, at least not by legal standards. He is out for vengeance and revenge, and that does not justify his actions, even if those who did that to him deserve it. And do remember that he's also killed or caused the death of several completely innocent people already in the process. Apply his logic and methodology to the real world and somehow I don't think you'd agree that's it's all right.
I'm under the impression that she doesn't know that he's a bit of a train wreck when it comes to what he does.
Wasn't revenge somewhat synonymous to justice? Pretty sure revenge is the main reason anyone ever bothers to go to courts. That or greed.
I've lost the majority of hope I had for due process a long while ago. When a person gets jailed for a longer time for a non violent robbery because he was starving than a banker who ruined the lives of thousands of families, anyone with more sense than public compulsion should start having doubts if the justice system isn't more about the system than the justice.

I dunno - for me, it's a bit like being confronted with the adult wreckage of a badly abused child who's seeking the people who hurt him or her. I don't know about you, but I'd feel some SERIOUS temptation to help out. I know, I know, vigilanteism is wrong... but I think it tempts most of us from time to time. I guess she's just assuming that it's better for them to die at the, er, hands of one of their own victims than to keep living and keep victimizing.
So rather than help him find someone who can maybe get him functioning hands (or at least prosthetics) she instead figures "well if he's stuck with scythes on his arms might as well put 'em to use"? Granted Cliff might not want to give up his weaponry just yet but still...a little long term thinking helps in these matters.
If you need info on the "<=PREV|FIRST|NEXT>" function built into FA, there's an admin by the name of
yak that handles a lot of those functions. He has several good journal entries about how to use them, here is one:

Actually you know, FWIW, it seemed to work for me. In my life, at least, there have been times where events just kind of seemed to flow under their own internal logic. In retrospect you look back at it and go, what the fuck was I thinking, or how the hell did that even happen, that makes NO sense. But it did. Of course the stuff I've experienced is nowhere near as out there as Cliff's story, but you see my point I hope, if I haven't garbled it too badly? x.x
