It's not the drawings! It's mostly the narrative methinks.
The only mention is the apple and there's really nothing saying pumpkin or what is wrong apples it until the description.

i think that i just think apple pie always looks like apple pie and pumpkin pie always looks like pumpkin pie. like...all pies look different to me? i dunno. so the pies look like what they are to me, but i didn't know other people got pies confused? i dunno....i think it makes sense that the initial pie type is evil and needs to be replaced.....but i've said to many people many times that i'm not good at paneling and storytelling, sooooooo
