A commissioner special-ordered these large anodized titanium scales from The Ring Lord and sent them to me to construct a tail from. Before I started the tail, though, I put together some test patches. The way the titanium gets the colored means that there's a lot of variation from one scale to the next--there's even a good variation across a lot of scales.
There's a nice green; an aqua green-ish color that varies between cyan through green to dark purple; a light purple; a light blue; and a dark blue.
I really loved working with these colors. If I had extra cash lying around to make a personal project with, I'd seriously consider special ordering a bunch of them, but even just the normal titanium is rather expensive, and I don't know how much this guy spent on the anodizing. Oh well.

These particular scales aren't even listed as available by the manufacturer, so I'm not surprised that nobody uses them.
But in general, the scales are made by a pretty specialized chainmail manufacturing company, so they're not super widely known. And chainmail is a pretty separate sort of craft from most fursuit construction. I don't think I've seen any people who work in both chainmail and fur.
