Indeed.

We in South Africa all made peace with the fact that he would eventually pass away, but it was still a shock to get the news just now. Even though I'm part of the white minority who ran the apartheid system (and there are still some whites who, let's just say, don't think highly of Mandela) we are thankful for the fact that he helped avert a potentially ugly race war in this country when apartheid ended.

So rest well, Madiba. You will be missed.
