Born the bastard son of the Valgardian Emperor, an Demon and a Angel Noble, his demonic traits forever a reminder to his father of his heritage, though he became frustrated at the bastard's inability to be useful as claimant to the throne, and all but refused to see the boy as his own son, while his mother smothered the boy, feeling pity for him.

His racial heritage produced some blessings and curses. While no where nearly as strong or as potent with dark magic as demon, or as quick reflexed and good with light magics as their angel counterparts, Baldur was decent with both magic, but shocking skilled at pyromancies and anything involving flames. Coupled with the hardening skin and claws, Baldur realized that his strengths lay in the mind. He excelled at school, his charisma and intelligence earning him admiration from teachers, and fellow peers.

Due to his bloodline and his mother's connection Baldur was exposed to the Imperial Dynasty, and was able to establish connections rapidly. His half brother, the Heir Apparent gave Baldur the position as the Chancellor of Coin, hoping to keep an eye on him.

However, Baldur soon found had evn more connections and resources, and that many of the Nobles had become...concern about the strength of the current Dynasty and it's Heir...
