This is a combination of several conversations I've had recently.
I could go on a rant about what how bullshit of a topic this is but I'll just skip to the end... People.. If you want to be friends with an idol of yours, the best option you have is to let them find you!

Oh my Gaawd the expressions are so priceless XD And it made me both smile and feel a bit pitty for you, cannot imagine how many people must annoy you in some way out of the hord of watchers, not saying everybody is annoying but yea...know this happened to you couple of times...just try to stay calm knowing that sometimes they are not worth you feeling sad or angry cause of them...and care about those who are worth it...Hope this didn't come out too bad...

But you stalk everybody! :3 Besides, the point is they think they can be his friends instantly just by asking without even knowing him or wanting to get to know him, just because he's famouse and it could bring somethign to them...and doing other stuff that makes no sense just to get art they wish to..etc.
I know the feeling you're portraying here very well.
Also I really hate the people thinking that acts or thinks that friends = free requests, even if they try to say it's not a request.
I could go on in a long explanation of how i was in the past when I was a nobody and how I learned about things and matured and such but probably it's boring to post it here.

I have no intention of trying to befriend them whatsoever. I just sit there and watch. With slight envy.
But what am I to do? I'm just some person who goes here so I guess I'll just... Well... Do my own thing without trying to make a scene. And sure I MAY ask for art trades at various times but. Meh. I do it only because art is meant to be fun. Not some slave work...

Yup. Had the same kind of thing happen to me. It's a little sad, really, that we have to spell that kind of thing out for them. Means they never learned how friendships develop properly during the course of their lives.

Yeah this is pretty much the truth, every single time I got a 'hi' it usually was in the context of: "Draw free pr0n for me!" and when I've said 'NO' they usually repond with: "That's okay, you can finish it later!"... like ARGH!!
The funny thing is that I'm not even popular (I think... I hope), so I can't imagine what a real actual popular furry must go through. XD

Ahhh... this is so painfully true.

Because I like them and what they express, not because of their popularity or that I'm secretly trying to get them to draw anything. In the past I didn't understand why some seemed a little cold and avoidant. But after talk about such issues became common, I could easily tell why they are careful of new people... with a$$holes like that around and all :/

I realize, reading this, that this is why I don't have more online friends. I'm downright afraid of being viewed like this, even though I know I don't act like this...I hate being paranoid about other's opinions of me.

Huh, I hate to admit that I send links to people over Skype as well. If I'm browsing the internet and I come across something that I think somebody on my Skype contact list will like, I'll send it to them. In my experience, it can be a great conversation starter. I always like to have something to talk about, so I don't end up with the dreaded" hey how are you. Fine and you? Fine too. -Awkward silence-"

When I want to be friends with someone, regardless of how many people know about them, their style, and anything of the sort.
I just send them a small note saying hey, how are you and asking if they want to talk. of course it's a bit more awkward cause I'm shy x3
and if they can't or too busy to at the time. I'm fine with that, they can note me when they want and I'll reply when I ca. easy.

But I came to the conclusion, I don't draw. I don't do any form of Art. We don't really share any consoles on a major scale, Nor do we share the same games I guess.
So there really wouldn't be much connections to be had. Plus Like you said. "Let the Artist find you", And well. I've got nothing of worth to be noticed. So being found would never happen.
But seriously, Some people are just desperate to meet and befriend popular people.

Still, I'm sure someone, somewhere managed to go from zero to 100 in no time flat and make the transition from long-time uber-lurker (not even watcher) to super-clingy obnoxious creepy stalker.
Actually, somehow I have the feeling that this scenario actually isn't that uncommon, even if it might seem contradictory and illogical . . . well, aside from "lurker" and "stalker" both having inherently creepy connotations. Then again, "watcher" kind of does too. :p

Seems to me your life has to pretty much be made of suck to want to try that hard to be friends with someone well known (if not quite famous per se) just to find some kind of shallow self validation by proxy in associating with someone who actually has a life.

i can only imagine how annoying that is for you :\ it's really nice to be friends with popular people, but it's gotta be that way, not the other way around. You don't make friends with someone just because they're popular, that's all wrong! But anyway, i absolutely love the expressions X3

Over a year has passed since this comic was made, and it is still very much relevant to a certain person who refuses to change and keeps playing dumb about why me and several others are so done with them.
Gotta love people who are too thick to learn what it actually takes to be friends and not be that awkward guy who thinks you're best friends just because you acknowledged they exist.
