One of the background graphics I've worked on for an eventual mobile game. (project currently on hold, so I thought I'd share) Everyone loves toys during the holidays - and if not SCREW YOU! Not many toy stores out there willing to put the robots, the ponies, and the building blocks in the same aisle.

I used to work at Wally World, and I wholeheartedly agree with you. The only things missing from this picture are items randomly deposited there from other departments by customers that couldn't be bothered to walk two feet to put them back where they belonged, and open bags of chips/bottles of pop left by people who figured they had enough of that and wanted to 'share the love'. ~head-desks~
I work in the Meat Department of WM currently.
Every so often, we get say, a ribeye steak returned to us that someone found left on top of a clothes rack for instance. The waste we have to deal with from moron customers is staggering. We have an agressive program that donates foods that are near going out of date to the local food lifeline, but stuff like this, and the customer that abandons a whole shopping cart full of perishables that has broke the cold chain and must be rendered is sad and frustrating. The write off cost, along with having to pay for the render company to take the waste is not good either. It costs the company, the customer, and my paycheck in the long run because some folks are idiots.

I must say I've never run into that particular problem, but I've run into similar ones. I've had open bags of chips, open containers of soda, boxes of crackers and other food items, as well as miscellaneous products from other departments. It definitely gets aggravating, I'll say that.
Did you hear that Metroplex is on sale at Costco for $50? I nearly shit myself when I heard that, and after I just got through spending over $100 on myself (I needed a new cell phone, as my old one is on it's last legs). If I knew that before I spent that much, I would've begged someone to take me down to the closest one that had them, and bought one. The cheapest I've been abl;e to find so far, was at BBTS for about $110, and I thought that was cheap.

I dunno... There was a tiny toy store in the Montclair Village, not too far from the house where I was staying in Oakland that was close to this level of diversification. It would break my heart that I never had the spare money to avoid buying what I liked, and it'd take me a long time to save for what I needed. For example, it took me 11 months to save up $7.95 for a set of Juggling Balls.
