This has been done for ages. I've just been refraining from posting it because I was trying to write a story, but I just can't work up the courage to do any sort of narrative like I did with the last picture of the series.
It's a sequel to http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11503657/.
The idea is that he's sat down on the edge of a cliff, still unaccustomed to this new and strange place and still having no idea who he was or why he was here.
The place he's in (which could be described definitely as a psychedelic dream-world sort of deal) isn't a concrete place at all due to being part of his consciousness, and as he walks on through the tangled undergrowth the environment tends to change suddenly and without much warning. He recognizes this as an odd patchwork of memories of places he's been to, but can't place how or when and why and shit.
Um tl;dr he is wandering around in a dream world (In a coma) which is a patchwork of his memories. He starts to remember more about himself the more he explores. Here he's sitting on a cliff, pondering.
He doesn't have much time before he's rudely interrupted.
I want to thank phantominus also for helping me find some direction with this.

You know... I like to think that when a 'possum is severely stressed or scared, it's internal glands synthesize a mix of psychotropic drugs and release them into bloodstream in order to calm down the creature. But if the stress is so great, the poor little thing's endocrine system decides to shut down the creature, increasing the drug-hormone mix ten fold. The neural receptors are tossed into OD, and that's what we call thanatosis... Or playing 'possum.
Now, following that line of thought, I think that also serves as an additional protection against predators. A wolf would come by and sniff the stoned 'possum. He would also smell the drugs, as the 'possum's bloodstream is full of them, and some of the substances can escape through the lung alveolae and be breathed out. So the wolf knows that and says to himself: "Nope, I won't be eating this one, it's meat is full of 420." After some time, once the liver reprocesses the excess drugs from the bloodstream (which goes fast, because those are the drugs that were made by the organism itself, made to be easily broken down, and containing protective amino acids which block addiction to stressful situations), brain then returns to normal, and the 'possum awakes. Wolf is gone, life is saved.
Now, why I'm telling this? Because, while they're in thanathosis, they must experience some kind of... Weird dreams? Astral projections? Soul transpositions...? Something. Something mythical and arcane that's supposed to teach them how to evade situations which brought them to thanathosis in the first place. And these few pics are just that, I think.
Also... If the desperate wolf decides to get high and eat the 'possum nevertheless, is there a better place to die than inside Morpheus' domain? Finally, the eagerly wolf would meet his doom too, as the opossum's nectar would turn into poison inside wolf's stomach, irreversibly wrecking his brain chemistry. Maybe he'll hear the 'possum's voice in his head from now on.
BTW, cool art!
