Captain of the Hickory Catkin, a cargo freighter, Yuka Senesta sometimes finds stowaways hiding in the hold. They're most often like this poor soul here - down on their luck or just brought up in bad conditions, looking for a way to one of the big cities in search of a job and a new life. She's softhearted enough that she'll let them stay aboard if they don't cause trouble, but anyone who does will have a crew of loyal sailors to answer to. A few of them have gone on to join the Hickory Catkin as sailors - sometimes the new life they seek is right there in front of their noses.
