1. Find some old art you've done, preferredly at least ten years old or more.
2. Cringe.
3. Reimagine/redraw it.
4. Post.
Okay, so I'm not actually expecting anyone to do this, but I was cleaning up around our office a few weeks ago and found one of the first books that got me introduced to the fandom: a copy of a tabletop RPG called "Furry Outlaws," with illustrations by Terrie Smith. My then-boyfriend gave it to me as a gift about 1996 (he was into tabletop gaming and miniature painting) and I absolutely loved the concept and the art. I think he was trying to get me interested in tabletop gaming too, which would have worked if I could have found anyone to actually PLAY THIS GAME WITH. XD To this day, I still have not played it even once, and now the clear cover is cracking apart...actually, the whole book's kind of deteriorating since it was only coil-bound and photocopied.
Also at the time I had just gotten involved with anime, and so came up with this character who has a combined look between anime and western cartoons (and whose name is lost to the ages). All I remember about her is that she's a cat girl, and a magic-user. In the old sketch I think I had been debating about whether to make her conjuring a fireball or levitating a small dagger.
It was a weird exercise to try to adapt the old character design to my current drawing style, since the costume has a ton of features that I would not have put into a medieval costume now (like the skirt with no pants). Also since I don't force myself to do this enough, I decided to challenge myself with some (pain in the ass) foreshortening. Xp
If any of you guys do decide to do this, though, I'd love to see the results. Make sure you link to me too! ^_^

I don't know about it being embarrassing, I'd think it would show how much better you style is now than it had been then (not to say that you weren't good then, it's just that your later version here seems to have a more finished look about it, despite the fact that it's still a sketch and not inked).
Of course, this coming from someone who isn't a traditional artist, or even much of one in the first place, so here, you might want this.
*passes a grain of salt*

Wow. I know it's not a crazy concept-- I see people occasionally post similar comparisons of their work over the years. Still, it would be neat to actually do it for once.
I have so many pictures that I could use as a starting basis :) I'll have to decide which is the most embarassing XD

XP did that at one point, though with art that was maybe five years old.
The stuff that's ten years old is not very obtainable...it is blocked by a lot of stuff...though maybe those notecards that were from highschool are about. *creakcreak* XP
Looks really sweet in both the old and updated.
