[The building was crumbling, and there wasn't much time left to take action - the huge reptile was out of control, far from home and aggressive in the street too narrow for its scaly bulk. Rooth'ragon saw its tail carve channels of destruction through buildings, moving towards him as it turned, unleashing a grating roar.
If he could hold its tail, its biggest weapon would be out of commission, and from there it was up to forcing it back to its ocean home that would save the city from further destruction. If only Rooth'ragon was large enough.. ]
Massive commission for rooth! Such a pleasure doing this piece, as I learned a lot and got to work with a lot of different elements.
The biggest challenge, though, was painting the entire thing on one layer! After initially messing up the colouring and shading layers, I decided that it would just be easier to merge it all together and just go for it.
The result is something I'm proud of! I learned a lot doing this - biggest of all was to save all the freaking time because photoshop and my laptop conspire to wreck giant files by crashing when I least expect it, haha;
~Commissions are still open! Now that FA is back up, hopefully I can get some more like this going~

You seen MY straight lines in my macro work? o3o I do not even use a ruler when I should. Your buildings are fine. Though if you have a newer Sim City game, those make great references. I have a small screen shot collection saved somewhere. Very helpful... back in the day when I was more ambitious to do complicated buildings but still never finish them. c.c'
Ahhhh....so am I. As awful as the 98 version was...I absolutely love the scene when the Big G first makes his way through the streets of NY and shows us what he is finally capable in the helicopter chase. Fast, graceful and lethal..it was great eye candy! We can only hope this one show us him the same way and not just a lumbering beast.
I know, right? I especially love that scene where he swandives into the bay and swims away. In that one motion he transformed from a vaguely anthro giant monster to one very big and fast iguana, pursuant to his (her?) origins. Very very cool.
Personally, I love the old stuff AND '98. I loved the new design, even if it was a drastic departure. I think the writing could have been a little better, and I couldn't help but think Dr. Tatopoulus was just a grown-up version of the kid from War Games -- Matthew Broderick has more range than that. It almost seemed like he dialed it in, y'know? But still, fun movie, and I watch it on my home theater on occasion with the bass all cranked up.
But yes, I'm sure this new Godzilla movie will show him in ways he's never really been shown before. I mean, even in the old Godzilla movies, you never really saw more than a dozen or so people crushed by his feet or by general destruction. I think this new movie will have a bodycount rivaling Rambo. ;) Not that I'm a proponent of murder, but when you have a gigaton of monster lizard playing havoc with a city, there's gonna be a lot of casualties!

BRILLIANT! I love the little story, too. :)
This is an excellent homage to the kaiju king. You did such a great job with both characters, especially given they're of such different style -- Godzilla's all knobby and pointy and Rooth's just the opposite. Well done!
So very thrilled with this. I'd be happy to commission you again. ^_^
