Vulpine & Southern RR poster - art by kendallcollins
Many of us railfurs are familier with the awesome work of
kendallcollins but he did an image for me that absolutely blew me away.
I had asked if he would be interested in doing a poster for my fictional Railroad, the Vulpine and Southern, and very quickly he surprised me with this image.
The V&S operates a motive power fleet largely consisting of surplus Southern Pacific Locomotives as well as a small number of new built locomotives. The most powerful locomotive on their 'Fast Freight' operations are a few 4-10-2 ex-SP 5000 class machines as well as a handful of Ex-NKP S-2 Berkshires.
The company interchanges with Southern pacific, ATSF, and UP while constantly extending their reach.
Many thanks to Kendall for this piece :)

Vulpine and Southern! LOVE IT! :D
It's an awesome image. Impressive mix of a traditional frontface view of the steamer with a very bold colour pallete for the background.
Fond as I am of Aussie railways and rolling stock, none of it compares with the sheer might of American locos. Plus theirs sound better too.

True. The closest we came was having one of theirs here, the Mikado D57 "yank tank" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_So.....ass_locomotive
Garratts are pretty impressive too in terms of length. I'm kicking myself for messing up my photo opportunity last time I was at Thirlmere. 9_9.
