He carries the spear gugnir, made from the wood of yggdrasil, the world tree and smithend by the dwarfs. never shall it miss its target. The two ravens Hugin and Munin ( thought and memory) circles the worlds and reports to him of the doings of humans. He sacreficed his eye for one drink from mimers well, the water that grants wisdom. he hung for nine days and nights upon yggdrasil impaled by his owns pear given no food or mead so he whould know what it was to die. He found the the secrets of the runes and leanred from the dead of the future.
One of Odins manny names was Jólnir meaning " yule figure" god of the norse midvinter fest nammed Yule.
from wikipedia:
Prior to Christianization, the Germanic peoples (including the English; Old English geola or guili) celebrated a midwinter event called Yule.[15] With the Christianization of Germanic Europe, numerous traditions were absorbed from Yuletide celebrations into modern Christmas.[16] During this period, supernatural and ghostly occurrences were said to increase in frequency, such as the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession through the sky. The leader of the wild hunt is frequently attested as the god Odin and he bears the Old Norse names Jólnir, meaning "yule figure" and the name Langbarðr, meaning "long-beard" (see list of names of Odin).[17]
The god Odin's role during the Yuletide period has been theorized as having influenced concepts of St. Nicholas in a variety of facets, including his long white beard and his gray horse for nightly rides (see Odin's horse Sleipnir), which was traded for reindeer in North America.[18] Margaret Baker comments that "The appearance of Santa Claus or Father Christmas, whose day is 25th of December, owes much to Odin, the old blue-hooded, cloaked, white-bearded Giftbringer of the north, who rode the midwinter sky on his eight-footed steed Sleipnir, visiting his people with gifts. … Odin, transformed into Father Christmas, then Santa Claus, prospered with St Nicholas and the Christchild became a leading player on the Christmas stage."[19]

...and not only did she have the nerve to say to everyone that santa is white and everyone needs to suck it up, but she then went on air to "apologize" for her comments... by telling everyone they were unfairly attacking her and that she and Fox news were just big targets, which is why people had a problem with her comments.
No, bitch, it's because you're a dumbass airheaded fool who should be mopping floors and gossiping with the lady who cleans the bathrooms, not on TV trying to tell people how to think.

I'm 43 years old.
When I was a kid, we took out our black santa and put him up in the window. We also had a complete nativity set... all with black people in it, including a black jesus. It had belonged to my grandmother on my father's side, and was about 30 years old or so when I was a kid.
So since when? ...probably a long fuckin' time ago, depending on who you ask. And that's the point. Everyone has their own view of things.
Now come on. Tell me Jesus has always been white too. Do it.

Dude. Don't be an idiot. No, I never believed Jesus was white but it's ridiculous to say a character based on a white guy (Odin) will be not white.
What exactly is your problem, then? If "everyone has their own view of things" why is what she said in any way ignorant. It makes you seem really hypocritical when you say everything is subjective and then throw a hissy fit when she says Jesus was white. Also, you do need to realize that she was talking a blog post that accused White Santa of disenfranchising black kids and wanted to turn Santa into a penguin, right?

Actually, I'm thinking you're being the idiot, but that's ok. We all have our moments. And yes, that was a dig at you. Let's keep it civil. I don't insult you and you don't have to insult me either.
My problem? I have a feeling it's not what you think it is. I know who Santa is based on; if you remember, it was explained rather well in the text of this artwork, and I believe he even supplied a link to it somewhere up there. So Santa being white or not isn't my problem, no.
It's the person who put out in such a confrontational manner the fact that Santa was white, and the way they then reacted as if the world were leaping on their back as an "apology" for what had to be intentionally talking and acting the way she did. This lady knows how racially charged topics, no matter how small, get reacted to. She KNEW all she was doing was trying to stir up trouble and make people overreact. That far more than the topic itself, pisses me off. You already can hardly trust or listen to most of the news you see; and here we have some supposed journalist starting shit for ratings.
What she was reacting to is mostly unimportant as well; it sounds like a bunch of bullshit trolling, and we all know how to react to trolls right? I'm *pretty* sure it's not to have a television show focus on it to debunk the concept. And yet that's more or less what happened, isn't it? It's similar to if she found someone calling Jesus a zombie or God "the flying spaghetti monster" and had a segment in her show to tell people it wasn't reasonable or real. People should already KNOW it's not real; it's just someone trying to be an ass.
I also never said "everything is subjective". I was talking specifically about Santa Claus, who is fictional. Jesus was a real person. Saying he was white is much the same as me saying you're a certain color without having met you or really knowing enough to make that statement. When I spoke about the black santas from my childhood, I wanted to point out that it shouldn't really matter what color Santa is; he's more of an icon or symbol than someone requiring a specific skin tone or having to belong to a certain group, no matter what his background is. And by the way. Santa is no more Odin now than Halloween is still Samhain. Time and perspective change things way too much for that.
