*nods* They are okay from what I hear... but nothing special.
In the city I live in, they are all we have, so, we are stuck with them, as fire has no ambulances.
Every police officer, firefighter, and EMS worker is EMT trained though, so, help is never far away.
Last I heard, Rural Metro was going through bankruptcy.. I'm sure they will recover, but, I do wonder what it will mean for patient care.
I hear AMR is good as well. Only one city in this state has them, however.
FD is good way to go in my opinion as well.. though, it does create a lot of paper work for them.

AMR, like rural metro, pays at a lesser rate because they can. Because theyre both so huge, they can. With fire departments, I know in my state they despise ambulances and emts, and are mostly separate from EMS. Your best bet is township or city EMS, half of them are volunteer, and the emts that are paid are for the most part paid good. Second best is "hospital brand ems" or the hospitals very own BLS ALS services. Pays better..emts are happier
I could see that. Big companies like that can get away with things.
Ah, yes, the old Police-Fire-EMS rivalry. Some firefighters just don't like doing EMS stuff as well.
Indeed, those small town EMS units seem good to me as well. Most are volunteers here, but some are paid.
The hospital based ambulances are good too from what I've seen, though the 3 I have seen here are mainly used to transport patients from fixed wing aircraft at the airport to the hospital.
However, if one is in the area when an accident happens the can and do respond.
