Cleaverblades are extremely fine and well made blades that fetch incredibly high prices.
Only master metalsmiths are allowed to create such blades. The metal for these blades is extracted from a plant that lives deep inside active volcanoes, these plants use the metal as protection against the incredible heat. The metal once extracted is almost organic in the way it behaves and in the wrong hands it revolts against the blacksmith and becomes unworkable. Only truly master blacksmiths can (as some might call it) tame this steel. Even when the blade is finished the metal shows a streak of vanity by creating a lattice-like pattern on it's sides.
Only those skilled in magic or those native to the fiery pit are able to collect this metal and neither will work for a low price. The metal has often absorbed various impurities from it's surroundings and these can change its colors. Strangely, unlike most metals, these impurities do not weaken the metal from these plants.
This particular blade was forged in the far north by one of the last 'living armours' also known as an Oblivion Magus. The blade is an almost iridescent navy blue, while the hilt is a dark golden bronze, the red gem at the bottom is an Ice gem and can empower the blade with the ability to make anything it wounds feel a freezing pain. The blade is approximately the same length as the Roman gladius design and works quite well with an average sized shield
