I'm aware that the content of the picture is WoW, but to be honest, the question wasn't 100% WoW directed, just sarcasm about the armor lol. Its not just WoW logic that pertains to the showing of the midriff, but most of the MMO's out there.

You know, that makes perfect sense! Apart from fact that female fantasy armors often have midriff exposed just because it's sexy.
No, seriously, this design could have midriff not armored, but covered by clothes. However, this way it looks much hotter.

Armor and character both look great, and mesh very well together, none of that awkward "armor feels like it's on a second invisible person" you sometimes see with pieces like this. Very nice! :3

Awesome, WoW + Furries. She looks fast *and* dangerous. Nice posing. I think WoW armor isn't too realistic, so nice job on trying to fit it onto a more normal body.
