Vargas Barroso de Mello is an odd character, to say the least.

He is one of the highest ranking officers of a secret organization devoted to turning common soldiers into living weapons, but he does not seem to fit the part for his rank. He is smug, playful, undisciplined and, to those that try to make him take things seriously, an annoying joker.

He was born in Rio de Janeiro, in Brasil, and raised in a family of 3rd generation Japanese immigrants. His grandfather taught him the art of kendo, while he himself slipped away from home constantly to practice a popular fighting style of his home country, Capoeira.

Tragedy struck his life when, while absent from home, his younger brother was killed by accident by a group of men looking for him. The remorse for not being there to protect his sibbling took it's toll, as he left home to develop his own fighting style, and started hunting for his brothers killers. He had taken it as a personal vendetta to try and fix the world, convinced that a place where true justice existed would not have allowed such a crime to go unpunished. His search lead him to the secretive Biological Weaponization Agency, and sadly to his own down fall. His perspective of the world became warped by the venomous words of one of the chief scientists of the organization, believing that helping the BWA achieve it's goals would be the quickest way to correct the flawed nature of the modern world. In his mind, the only way to fix the damage of civilization was to break it and bind it under a new rule, and the BWA had the power he needed to make that happen.

He acts cool and care free, but in truth he has a lot on his back. Maybe it is all just a mask to cover his shame for taking a darker path? Or maybe it is a defense mechanism to dull his senses to all the atrocities his position in the Agency requires him to commit? Or maybe he is just, indeed, a smug bastard who doesn't give 2 shits.
