There it is, my first rendition of the so famous videogame fox lady, Krystal. I was working long and hard on this image, approximately 20 hours or something, especially the gun was eating up quite some of that.
You know there are millions of Krystal images on the internet, and the majority of them shows her in a cute form, or lovely, or doing something sexy or.......... being porn. So I wanted to do something different, with what the people haven't been stuffed yet. Sure, the combat theme would have come better if there was a background, containing battle scenes, but that would have taken forever! Still, without one, it concentrates on her, the lovely lady.
I have played Star Fox Assault only once, and that's quite some years back, so I don't remember anything from the game. I'd like to get it actually, but for some reason it's currently redicolously expensive online, costing even more than when it came out..... Weird, since this wasn't a top class game at all, so I won't get it currently, maybe whenever it's cheaper. Anyway, so I don't know anything concerning Krystal from the game anymore, I could only watch the original suit design with the (admittedly awesome) trophy of her in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. So I also don't know what she was using in the game, so I came up with an own gun design, totally designed from scratch. And I am very pleased with it, and I'd say I can be, since it was a fucking assload of work.
Yes sure, she's not looking so original, and that's actually a good thing in my eyes, since I really dislike her original design, with the gigantic head and stuff. If I tried hard, I could probably draw her original, but I won't, since I find it ugly. Also I changed aspects of her suit, I kept it's design for the biggest part, since it's cool, but not everything. I mean, you know I love the feminine aspects, but a fight suit with high heels? And a design that looks like the suit has an external bra? Bullshit, I am the fan for realism, so I changed these 2 things, still showing a bit of cleavage, but keeping it decent and as realistic as possible.
The actual reason, why I now come up with a Krystal image is the birthday of one of my absolute best friends. I don't know how much of a Krystal fanatic he still is, but he used to be a very heavy one, even starting collecting groups on DA. It's him: http://krystalcroft.deviantart.com/ and he even still got the Krystal eye as avatar, that should tell you enough =3 He is possibly the greatest person I ever met, that's why I was working my ass off on this picture for him, and that's why I even got a little trophy made for him, which officially entitles him as AWESOME!! XD And representing my respect for him, I will even show you that trophy, and since we both love the English language, I got the text engraved on it in English. Her it is: http://th06.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE.....or-d6yra74.jpg
He deserves it. I've been having so many good times with him, and hopefully still many to come! So yeah, enjoy. I haven't drawn Krystal since I started with the fox nerdiness, so you can't be sure if I will ever do again, so better be sure to enjoy XD

Nice pose, and I love the detail, especially with the tail, suit and gun :3
If I could offer some constructive criticism, the head and muzzle look a little plain and off. There's not as much detail there compared to the rest of the picture, which makes them look rather out of place, especially compared to something as complex as, say, the gun, which has obviously had a lot of effort put into it.
Otherwise, nice piece of art, well done :3

Thank you much for one of the very rare to get meaningful comments =3
Your argument is correct but not applyable at the same time. You know, usually I try to add texture to the face with the fur structure of regular red fox styles, but this character has most of her face plain white. The only way to try to make it look more complex would be to add more shading to it and play around with that. I have done so in the past, because I also don't like plain color areas, but in this case, here in Germany we have an appropriate saying: "Too much salt messes up your meal". Means, if I'd add more "unnecessary" styling to her face, it could pretty much be worse than this way. The tail allowes to add much of fur shade structure, since it's got long fur. The face has very short fur, even with very smooth color diffusion in the case of this character, so I could also only add more smooth shading to the face, and that would not make anything better. You know, at least for me and with my style, other people with very much different styles might have different ways of working such a thing out =3 What you pointed out is something I have to deal with currently. Maybe one day I will find methods to improve that as well ^^

No problem ^^ I can see what you mean, the shorter fur means detail would be hard or out of place. However, I'd say that at least a bit of shading would be better than none, even if it's not showing any fur.
It is all down to you in the end after all, and if you feel more comfortable doing it this way, then that's your prerogative. Keep up the nice style!

I love it!
I don't get why everyone always puts krystal in a loincloth, it doesn't even make sense in the setting. A stone-ager adopted into a space age civilization isn't going to dress and act stone age forever... I treasure the rare pieces like this that show the other forgotten half of her life.
