Here's an unfinished bit of pretty for those who think I've disappeared off the map. No shading, yet, on this one- that's still to come, that and the background. If anyone wonders, her wing-arms look like they're different lengths- she's in the middle of a turn and her right wing hasn't caught up to the rest of her, yet, so it's behind her at an angle. The shading will make that more obvious when this one is done.
She's just a random dragoness, nobody's character. But she could end up as one. Belly-dancing is really fun- I'm taking lessons, now. *grins*
Please forgive the odd shadows on the image; the scanner I have available has a very small scanning-surface. I'll see what I can do to remove them in the finished image, later. Cheers, for now!

Thank you, hun! I based it on some belly-dancing outfits I've been seeing lately. Shading and background to come! When the convention this piece is meant for is over, I'm going to get back to finishing the commissions I owe folks, yours included. No worries, I haven't forgotten!
*growls at the sexy dragonesses - the one in the picture and the one who drew it, and gives the latter's muzzle a good kisslicking*
Mmm... beautiful, beautifully drawn, my _niHan... you capture her motions perfectly...
*grins wickedly, a touch ferally* Mmm... how about belly-to-belly dancing?... do you think you could give me lessons?... :D

*chuckles* I'm still learning, my platinum! Heh. I can't think of any belly-dance tradition where male and female actually dance together- it's usually genders apart... And yes, I'm deliberately "misunderstanding" your comment. *nuzzlelicks your lips, rumbling a purr* Sweet dragon, you...
Thanks for liking her! And yes, she may well dance for you, oh, handsome dragon!

Yeah... Frankly, I was so involved in drawing her that I started to run out of page! But, if you look, you'll see a little dip in her middle- that's her hips- her scarf covers her thighs a bit, too. Her legs are actually longer than they appear, with that digitigrade bend in them. Anyway, I LIKE long torsos... Most animals, if you stand them on their hind-legs, look like they have torsos that go on forever. And take a look at any lizard sometime- how many are just one solid colour? None that I can think of- they all have at least SOME pattern and shading. And so, I give you my brightly-coloured lady dragon...
There's a fairly strict proportion that I use for my dragons; one "head" for her neck, another two for her torso, and three for her legs (taking into account their bend as almost one full "head"). The wings are two and a half heads for the wing-arms, and another two to three for the wing-fingers... Tails are variable, depending on what I'm doing with them, but they're usually four to five heads long... Keeps things from driving me nutso when I'm drawing them. *grins*

Ah, running out of paper can be a bitch. >_<
I do see the mark where the hips are, my thinking is that the legs taper down so suddenly to the point where the knee connects to the leg. I think what's bugging me is the fact that the tapering is so sudden. The hips are wider but they have no room to taper into the leg smoothly. I just want to stick more leg in between. *laughs*
I do agree with you on the torso matter after giving it a second look. It just my opinion that the legs should be a match for the torso.
Keep this in mind Murr, I only give crits in the mindset that crits are the only way that artists will improve. I don't just nitpick for the sake of nitpicking. *winks*

Buddy, I wasn't offended by ANY means! I just have this obsessive urge to explain everything. *giggle* And looking at the drawing closer (not sure if you can see it on the screen) you might find a very subtle, thin line through the fabric (look through the middle flap of scarf); the front of her thigh, my friend. Her upper legs aren't all that thick, and the taper is more gradual than the opposite hip might make you think... I like a narrow, trim knee, too- I base the leg-type on dogs and cats.
Maybe the taper will be more obvious when the full shading is finished. *huggles*

As has this old beast- the sleeves are a mess, especially at the cuffs... but the rest of the jacket has managed to survive the abuse I've put it through the twelve years or so of my having it. It was naked when I got it, and got tribalized pretty quickly... Love that old thing, even if I hardly wear it anymore (gained too much weight).
Yeah- scanner bed was too small. The image is kinda large, and I didn't want to chop it. Short of going to a print-shop to use their larger scanners, I have no way to scan these bigger pieces in properly. And no, I can't afford a larger scanner. I wish!
One day, though.... One day. >^__^<
