I do think Nicole is looking out for Croc's interests. Basically, she wants her brother to be happy. I also think that, for Croc, this reaffirms why he should stay with Des.

I just remembered something that led to another idea for your story.
Remembered: Do you think we can find out what happened in the rest of the cursed springs comic you were working on?
Idea: Maybe a cursed spring is the way to go for your story. Not the Ranma 1/2 type, but where the water has a spirit in it that will inhabit the first one who drinks from the spring...
