Reminds me of an old incident on a muck where two characters tried to interact. One capable of speaking only telepathically, the other remote-operating a brainless body and thus effectively insensitive to all telepathy. The situation got so awkward, the only IC-consistent solution that could be found was to introduce a 'translator tablet' with runes that accepted telepathy and vibrated audibly.
