Steampunk/mad scientist/ goggles with headgear.
They aren't done yet, but I made these for my boyfriend. Someone broke a pair of really expensive glasses with specialty lenses in his shop. They help to filter out harmful rays of light while working at a torch. Sooo, I did this with the lenses :)
The leather was left untreated so it'll sun age. Once they get to a good color I'll seal them.
I still have to put a backing on the rivets in front so the heat wont transfer and burn his head. I'm also going to pad the eyes to help keep them comfortable, and stamp his shops name into the side.

It's a shoulder piece, 2-4 oz vegetable tanned leather. If you wanted to get some, it's on sale at Tandy until the end of the month. $30 for around 7 sqft. I think they are selling it in three different thicknesses.
It's pretty decent for wet forming, stamps well enough. The overall thickness is fairly even and I believe it's grown/tanned in America.
