It's mostly a parody sort of thing comparing Windows and Microsoft to the One Ring from Lord of the Rings. If you're not familiar with it, the One Ring is sort of an embodiment of evil in the books and has the power to control the will of mortals and stuff like that. It's corruptive, addictive, and lots of other bad stuff. One of its features is that it has "One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them" written on it in Tengwar (the same type of script written around the Windows logo). So... err... yeah. Actually, it's not very funny after you explain it :P.
Err... never mind. Just me being geeky :) Fear not. I'll probably be continuing with my regular furry art as usual. I just dumped all of the non-furry stuff together today :)

So you're saying... Vista is so good they have to force it upon everyone ;).
Hehe. I actually already have Vista, which is one reason I hate it so much. It's so busy looking pretty and hogging up resources it can't even do simple things like make a DOS prompt go full screen for all my old DOS games! I'm probably old fashioned, but I think OSes should just run programs like they're designed for, manage resources, and then get out of the way. People use computers to run programs. Nobody uses a computer to be in awe of the fancy 3D looking sparkles at the bottom of every window, or have their computer tell them what they can or can't do based off of how much the music industry and Hollywood paid Microsoft, or... stuff like that *preemptively ends rant*!
But I needed a PC for my gaming, didn't have time to build one myself, and every single bloody one came with Vista. :( Until I know whether future games will only support Vista, though, I figure I'll hold off upgrading to XP for the time.
Someday, I'll have time to finish setting up my Linux box for the serious stuff, though.

Yeah. that is true. And I hate WIndows media player 10 or w/e one comes bundled. it skips at the 30-seconds-left mark in EVERY song, and it skips for about 5 seconds. and it takes, like, 20 seconds to start playing a song after you open it up. Stupid thing.
Granted, I have it on my notebook and the only thing I use it for is Word, Excel, internet and Furcadia (not so much anymore on that one). I dont' so much game anymore, unfortunately. but games are for the Desktop, which is XP exclusively. and that one's a beast. BEAST.
Well, it's so good that people are actually afraid of it. People look to Vista and think that something SO PERFECT cannot possibly exist in this life, therefore it must be a divine creature. and we, as humans, are but mortals, and therefore we ph33r the l337 Opperating systems.
It is OK, world. We, in fact, have been deemed worthy.

Except for gaming, Linux does a surprisingly good job. I've been having fun playing around with Ubuntu of late and it seems quite nice.
Good catch on avoiding Vista, though! Windows 7, surprisingly, isn't that bad.
I think Windows versions are like Star Trek movies. Only every other one is good.

I used to feel that way about Ubuntu; I've been dual-booting for about a year and a half ... but I just got talked into upgrading from version 8.10 to 10.04 ... and almost EVERYTHING stopped working. -_- So at the moment I mainly depend on Windows for things I NEED to do. =P
Ha ha, yeah, it seems like success gets them over-confident, then failure sobers them up. XD A big sine wave of success!
