i'll try to give you the abridged but still kind of painful explanation trigger warning for sad things 8)))
this is highschool!au prescott, reflecting on what happens in canon!verse with the ot3. the only thing changed is that tris and allen, a part of the ot3 are playing a part as his tormentors (when in canon pres never knew either of them until in his 20s) and later on actually really start to like him.. PRES IS bullied, has no self esteem whatsoever, allows himself to be pushed around and is also used for sex a lot, mostly sexual frustration for closeted guys. allen bullies him with tris and they both fake-pretend to be his friend and soon enough pres catches on but just kind of lets them do whatever they want because they force sex on him, and further confuse him about his sexuality.. he rarely ever gets a choice with anyone, and learns to just kind of shut up. he's not at all vocal about his concerns ever, out of fear of more abuse
pres eventually is so distraught over their faked feelings, but moreso when they begin to feel more real- pres kind of rejects those feelings and ends up so confused by their genuine kindness and love after a while thaT HE ENDS UP KILLING HIMSELF because he's convinced he can't be loved because he's been forced to think that way about himself
