Not everyone is going to want to download the image just to see who the commissioner is.

I'm simply watching out for her best interests. Falvie is an amazing artist so I don't want to see her perma-banned from the site. =/

Some of us don't have a mouse to hover over the image with. A lot of us are on mobile as I currently am. Its really not that hard to mention who the piece/character belongs to. Its a few simple keystrokes. =/

She won't get banned because she didn't say who's character it was in the description. If you're concerned because you think she never showed the person the finished art, she emailed them and confirmed everything while she was suspended. She has been doing business through email and if I remember correctly she's had the whole list done for a little under a month now.

The way that I'm seeing it is that by not linking the owner she is inadvertently claiming the character as her own (through FA's automatic copywriting system). I can almost guarantee that the right Individual could take that and run with it all the way to the FA board as character theft. That would create another huge debackled that's not needed.

The word is literally based off niger, the latin word for black. It literally means black. There is no way that the word can be thrown around without the racial connotation, and I am so sick of people trying to excuse it by saying that it doesn't have a racist meaning to it. Like anyone can look this up.

I'm not saying that it can be thrown around. Nor did I excuse it. Simply making an observation. Words change in meaning depending on how society uses them. A "fag" is a pile of sticks. Now its derogatory slang for gay. "Gay" used to mean happy, but now its another term for homosexuals.

Regardless of the Latin roots a word means whatever people want it to. The hard part is getting society to agree with the definition.

But today the term is still very racist and still largely aimed at black people. I've seen a lot of furries try to justify calling people the n-word and saying they're not racist for calling people the word.

I don't think there's any confusion on what the word means. Almost every time it's brought up there are people around to point out how racist it is.

Exactly! I don't really see why everyone else and their grandma is upset by something the commissioner themselves aren't upset about. So what you have to spend extra time finding a character. So what?! Hell, there's also those people who find it irritating that people will get favs and watches and such from work they commissioned, and not work they've done themselves. Not everyone may be accustomed to the "To respective owner(s)" thing and would rather be given a link is all, not everyone knows to look in the tag or on the image file etc. Give them a break, they're not asking for much I would think.

I think the only people who should be bothered at all by it is the person the picture is for. If they don't find a reason to say "hey could you pop me a link" then everyone else should calm their tits. It's not much they're asking for, you're right, but that should mean that there shouldn't be this much of a stink about it either way.

Falvie, the basic point people are arguing is that we just want to see who commissioned each work because let's be honest (myself included):

1) Your art gets a lot of views, and so the appropriate commissioners can garner a lot of traffic from your posts.

2) If people who are not the commissioner enjoy the character, they can find more of he/she/it/LGBTQ/nooffensiveintended.

If the commissioner has a problem with the link. Then they should be the ones to say so. Not every tom dick and harry that decides "hey omg she did something that person A doesn't do or did something that person B wouldn't do" should be here being pissy.
