A mercury vacuum was was used to make some of the first tube back in the days before WWI. The lead that was used became sodder aa lead tin mic, an that is used in most applications today as a 90/10 ratio compared to the days back when called 50/50 ratio back in like the 1950s. Am interestingly tubes are sill being used today for certain applications superior performance in some devices as professional audio and high-power radio transmitters, and is less likely to be effected by EMP pulses, etc.
