He has arrived in California! That little jalopy of his made it all the way from Michigan to California. Unfortunately, when it reached Hollywood, it literally fell apart. Harp believed that the only kind thing to do was to put it out of its misery, and then properly bury it in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale. It was a good little flivver, he will miss it.
This pic is loosely based on a wonderful Buster Keaton photo: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm378968064/nm0000036
The Hollywood sign was originally a housing development advertisement for "Hollywoodland", built in 1923 (which was within Harp's time-frame of living). In 1949, they replaced the dilapidated sign (then read "HuLLYWO D") and decided to leave out the "-LAND" part so that it would no longer stand for the housing development, but instead represent the city of Hollywood itself. It had another face-lift in 1978, many people donated money towards the sign. Alice Cooper donated money towards an O and dedicated it to Groucho Marx. After that, people would constantly ransack the sign by changing the text to "HOLLYWEED", "RAFFEYSOD", "JOLLYGOOD", and a ton of other things listed at its Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Sign

it's just that some people get really freaked out that their kids might run into a pic with hand-guns, think it's cool, find one, and then shoot a bunch of people. They always blame tv, movies, or pictures.. never the parents themselves. Some sites permit guns, others prohibit them because they don't want to be sued.
There is a certain amount of truth to what you say, but there is also a certain amount of paranoia.
There is no such thing as an image that is completely unobjectionable to everyone, just as there is no such thing as a book that is completely unobjectionable. Somewhere, someone, will have an issue with it.
That's not the point.
The point is that you have done researched the terms of agreement and found nothing that would cause your piece to be labeled mature. Nor is there anything mature about the piece except the appearance of a gun.
The gun is not in use, and even if it were it is being used against an already broken-down inanimate object.
I say again, there is nothing remotely mature about this picture. You can let the fear of possible condemnation cause you to move it to a mature section, but I think you would be in error to do so. By moving it into 'adult' you are saying something about the piece that isn't true.

What a wonderfully nostalgic picture, Tigris! Great work, especially with the expression.
My hat is off to you for capturing the charm of those old silent movies -- and for doing the background research both regarding the world you have depicted and also more currently the world of on-line posting.
I too have had concerns regarding my own works as to which category they would best fit in, considering the Political Correctness attitudes currently afloat in the land. Unfortunately as a society we no longer condemn the author of a stupid action as being stupid and deserving of ridicule, but somehow now are saddled with being universally responsibility for said stupid actions.
I commend you for considering the consequences of some low-IQ cretin seeing the gun in your picture and due to some unfathomable illogic on his part getting a gun and doing something terrible with it. But if we all begin to censor ourselves, our works and our words, according to illogical and unpredictable "what if's" then the end result can only be a widespread paralysis of artistic and personal expression.
Once again, I admire your concern, but also I would warn you away from making it too great a concern about whether someone somewhere would somehow interpret your artistic efforts into a harmful or self-destructive action.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I realize that many furries don't watch silent films and may not be familiar with what I am referencing sometimes, but I always hope they enjoy the artwork as it stands anyhow.
Well, my actions were based upon the rules here. I checked, they hadn't put up anything about guns, so I felt I was able to post it here. It's not the fact of whether or not I am concerned about the subject which matters, it's whether the website protected itself against the inevitable situation from occurring. All it takes is one parent to sue the company because their child used a gun picture as desktop wallpaper or something. I've seen it much too often on the news (being from Detroit, stories about kids with guns happen every day). I recall seeing an art website that did have a gun ban in their submission rules, and I couldn't recall if it was this one.
