For my final offering of 2013, I'd decided to present an unusual blend of rubber stamp imagery with computer enhancements, in making a work of art modeled in the style of pop artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987).
A few years ago, I had the likeness of my bobcat 'fursona' made into a rubber stamp (by the folks at a specialty stationery store in Delray Beach, Florida). Since then, I had used this stamp on the envelopes, letters, and greeting cards I'd send out to friends and family alike.
Having recently seen an exhibit of Andy Warhol's art (at a south Florida museum), I was inspired to do a multicolored image of 'Rob Cat', based on the pop artist's renderings of such celebrities as Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali.
So, I'd scanned my bobcat 'fursona' rubber stamp image, cleaned it up a bit, and used my Paint.net program to add colors to it. Then, after saving said image, I revamped the entire work, altering the colors - not only on the background and the clothing, but on my character, too! The result is nothing short of eye-popping!
I hope to offer more of these unusual presentations in 2014 - with 'Rob Cat' being rendered in the styles of other artists. Meanwhile, I've also saved this art piece to use as a thumbnail - to accompany images of my 'fursona', rendered by members of "FA" and other well-known anthroartists - to be seen in the not-too-distant future...
Until then, have a very "Happy New Year!"
