This little guy(or girl) I just picked up today. I traded my two bearded dragons and a leopard gecko for it. It is an argentine black and white tegu lizard.
This was not a whim, I have been learning about Tegus and also been thinking about trading the others in for one for a little while now.
With any luck, this is a boy and will get bigger. They also have jowls that they apparently shake to attract females XD Which would be an awesome sight!
Doesn't have a name, it'll get one when it dawns on me or it prooves to have a specific personality. ^^

Yeah. And really I am much happier.
I liked the beardies, but they weren't working out and I didn't have time for the both of them. My attempts to sell the female had failed...so, I decided it was time for a change. Honestly, the energy in this room feels a lot better to me. XD I know beardies are awesome, but maybe I just had a couple of negative ones XD

Only two things, really...
1.) I live in a tiny, cluttered house with my mate, his dad, and his dad's girlfriend. I don't know where I'd put em ;-;
2.) I have a cat that gets into EVERYTHING >.O I used to have rats, and he's somehow bust em out of their cage and let them run loose (which is why I lost them- I had them back when I lived with my mum, and she tried to catch one, and she bit my mum ;_; Made me get rid of em D: ) he also killed a couple of tiny frogs I had years ago >< He's a murderer !!

Right now I'm crowded in a single room in my friend and his parent's house. My snake and tegu are on my dresser, each in their 40 gal tanks XD On either side of the dresser, about a foot hangs off XD
Yeah...I had to beardies before this and they are awesome, but they do require more space than I had...especially with two of them...So I opted for a lizard that would get larger XD but it will take like 3 years for him to get his full 4 feet. And by that time, I'll hopefully have my own place.
Sucks about your cat. It's a natural way of cats to behave though :/ No getting around that one.

Yeah, moving soon. And then I can put the reptiles in the living room instead of in my room. Got a roommate to move in with...searching for more people and an apartment Heh.
That aside. Tegus are awesome. Right now he's only about a foot. "bout as long as my laptop keyboard. It'll take him three years to be full grown. Plenty of time to get a place and cage for him built (my dad agreed to help me with that)
