This is a new design for the motor mechanism for my animatronic ear project.

After a lengthy period of rethinking and iterating the original SEP animation rack, I came to an interesting compromise. In stead of trying to make the total volume of the rack as small as possible, I am trying to limit the vertical height of the rack, making it less protrusive from the wearers head. The previous rack was ~1.8 inches tall, the new design is only 0.9 inches tall!! However this new rack is split into three identical units to contain all six servos. This just means I need to hide three smaller things instead of one big thing.

And this time I messed with modeling the tubing as well, since it looks cool.

What is Secret Ear Project? It is my personal project aimed at creating animatronic ears compact enough to fit within a hat. I am in the process of creating stationary models, animatronic mechanisms, and control software. Check my gallery for more about this and to follow along with my progress.
