Heheheh, when I was in Japan the last time, my little cousin did the same thing.
We were in the mall, and they had a small Christmas tree up with red ornaments on it, and he REALLY loves apples, so he ran over to it yelling "Apples! Apples! Apples! and tried to take a bite of it.
When he couldn't, he just stared at the ornament like "...Something is wrong with this apple." xD
