Avian Librarians - Art for Winged Legends
The first sneak peak at art that will be in my upcoming book through IMPACT books: Winged Legends: Draw and Paint Magical and Mythical Creatures. Here a gryphon, a phoenix and a raven sit in a library, sorting and adding information about their books.
Winged Legends will be available on early July in bookstores, on Amazon, and in arts and craft stores that sell art instructional books! I'll be giving more information as the release date approaches :)

Ahh! That explains the lovely little feather brand there. I love the idea of having strange markings on ravens, as a sort of spell mark or familiar's brand, if only to add a bit of variety to their plumage. I suppose african ravens and hooded crows already have that covered though, even if it's nowhere near as stylish.
The book is for beginners through intermediate, since there's a section in the beginning teaching basic techniques :3 And since the theme is for fantasy winged creatures, the other chapters cover other winged creatures (dragons, equines, regular animals, etc), so it's not a bird-only book, but winged fantasy creatures. I'd love to do a book just on avians, though!
i do know you're especially brilliant with feathers and avians, but i can see how that might be a more limited market on the fantasy side of things. I've actually never seen one of these books on painting - just the drawing ones. Usually of the type: Step 1. Draw some circles. Step 2. Finish the piece. Special note: Make it look dynamic and cool!
Haven't done any painting myself since middle school, but I'll be interested to take a look at it. Not that I've ever hovered nearby at a con and watch you paint. Nope, not me...
