So.. yeah.. this.. this was an exercise in many things, but mostly patience.. and my sanity! To which I have
kaisertodretter to blame for. XD
So then, on to the specs! Or lack there of! Meaning I can tell you the basics about it, but as far as how many total rings are in the tie.. I have no bloody clue. XD
So the tie is done almost completely in dragonscale, say the neck chain which is full persian. The larger rings are 19ga, 7/32" stainless steel rings while the smaller colored rings (in red, gold and silver) are 20ga, 5/32" anodized aluminum rings. And before you ask, no I don't know how long this took me. Far too long in my book, but to me maille is a labor of love, so.. yeah. If I recall correctly, I actually kinda timed myself on the bottom section. Moving at a decent speed (or at least it was for me), I think I was able to weave 1" in length in about 5 hours or so. Now, I never said I was a fast weaver, but I like to think my quality of work makes up for me being slower than some weavers out there~
Now this was bought as a kit, designed to make a 20" long tie, which woulda contained ~3,500 rings. As it turns out, this ended up being a 23" tie so all I know is that it has probably over 4,000 rings maybe? More or less? I dunno. I could figure it out but I'm being lazy tonight due to the cold. XD
Will I open up for these? Maybe. I don't really know a price yet, but it most likely wouldn't be cheap. I do have one more I plan on making (I actually bought two kits, but had to cannibalize the other kit to finish this tie), but I need to order more rings first when I can afford them. And if I do take orders for these, it'd be for one at a time, with no set finish date other than I would get it to you at some point, as I do have a full time job and live alone so I have to tend to all the house duties as well as take care of my dog and sometimes help my mom out, who lives next to me.
Feel free to comment, or drool.. I'm gonna make some hot coca and curl up under a blanket..
