So I keep hearing that people want to try suits before they buy. Yet no one has (That I know of) made some trial suits, probably because of the collateral if they are lost.
It's not a secret that I have lent my suits out to be worn by others, and I do it at my own risk, luckily those borrowed to are friends, or at the least those that are friends of a friend.
In the future, I want to make a series of suits (same species) that will fit three general sizes, though the size of furries can range from petite to michellen man, and I'd want to cover a large variety of people. Rear zippers and no others, these are trial suits.
I was thinking these sizes:
Small:
Fits height of roughly 5'2"
Figure to fit a female, with padding to fill the suit out for a male. Arms and legs will be longer to accommodate various limbs
37+ chest and hips
30+ waist
Inseam 25-30
Arms of varying length
Shoe of men's 8
Medium:
Fits height of roughly 5'9"
Built to handle a medium frame, more of a regular size
35+ waist, hips, chest
Inseam 28-32
Arms of varying length
Shoe of men's 10
Large:
Fits height of roughly 6'2"
Made for a larger frame
42+ waist, hips, chest
Inseam of 32-35
Arms of varying length
Shoe size men's 12+
Instead of making a generic canine, I think it would be fun to do something you don't see, but still all the same species, encase the head/hands/feet need to be used on a different body. I would think that meerkats would be cool, or some sort of unusual species to break up the monotony of the canine rule. At the very least, it has to be a 2 color main scheme with markings. Something easy to get in and out of, hand paws as dexterous as possible, non-cumbering tail and the feet easy to walk in.
Anyway, if there were a trio of suits for trial at cons to be lent out with reasonable collateral for a period of time during a con, does it sound like a good idea?
What species would be good?

One species makes it easy to swap parts if necessary. Uniform line to make choice not an option. If I made 3 different species, I would hear "I'd love to wear the the deer, but it's clearly not my size". Forcing a choice of only size makes a first wear less stressful. People can be attached to a suits looks, I am that way with a select few. If size is the only choice, there would be no regret of passing up another available suit.
I want to avoid canines, as I think there are to many, and opening a new door to widen the species gap is always great in my book. (I think a non canine makes you stand out better without having to be a sparkledawg or attacked by the tye-dye wagon.) And having someone wear a suit for the first time and receive alot of attention would perk them up good, and not just be another knot in the crowd.
Spandex and stretchy material can be... unsightly with certain people, not to mention it shows.... things that may not want to be seen. That and I have run into quite a few people that have an aversion to it, sometimes downright hatred. Having the suit a uniform construction of body flowing into all the parts is important, spandex can have a 'cliff' that breaks up the lines of an otherwise great suit.
I don't mean to brush aside ideas, just that I put some thought into such things to make an easy experience for everyone, with as wide a possibility for comfort, anonymity and as vanilla as it gets for suits.

I'm going to look into the possibility of making a few sets of them (maybe all the same species) and seeing if I can get some friends to take the trio to various cons to lend out. Until then, it will probably be just at MFF....
Straitjackets go over fursuits, if you have one that is large enough, it's possible.

Rainfurrest has been doing something like this for two years already, you can use your drivers license to try out "Rainy" the Rainfurrest cougar, and the new Fox which has yet to have a name. They're both partials, but thats what we get the guests of honor to contribute. So everyone can try a fursuit.
