My Doji <3
They are a type of all male, low class angels, who were banished from Heaven because they care wholly too much about humans and goodness in people. So on Earth, they took on the resemblances of brightly colored birds to help win the trust of others, and spend their time fighting the nightmarish monsters who dwell in darkness, defending creatures of goodness often at the expense of their hallow, fragile bones.
They sing to one another and have no names, so they are generally nicknamed after what birds they resemble. They adore shiny trinkets but wont ever steal them, so to pay respects, the humans of Japan often build shrines and leave bowls of necklaces, rings and other jewels as gifts for them in thanks for the defense of their souls. Doji are immortal but only in age... they can still be killed by too much bodily trauma or poison, despite the fact that they only eat berries and such.... even still... they'll keep charging headlong into battle over and over no matter how many of their brothers fall, if even just one good human's life is at stake. They're also very expressive... Coracias, despite his lack of eyebrows, has a perpetually worried look on his face. Their feathers will also fluff up when happy, bristle when angry, and they can make awful sounding screeches, hisses, and clicks with their mouths besides their pretty songs
As creatures modeled after birds, they're also very good at mimicking noises... so they only have to hear a person speak for a short while before they pick up their language.. as such, many of them are multilingual
This particular Doji is modeled after an Indian Roller bird, and his nickname is Coracias, after the Roller's Latin name
