Over the ridge it lies
Don't know, been sitting on my hard drive forever. I had hoped 2013 would be the year to get my shit together, gotta make it 2014.
I've been listening to a lot of Post Rock type stuff. Check out MONO, Caspianand Jakob

Wow - that's some atmospheric majesty going on right there!
Fantastic landscape work - the whole scene feels complete and it's a real refreshing change from just upload after upload of "character standing there" (which I am super guilty of. Hey, sometimes it's just fun, hahaha!)

This has been in my favorite forever and I'm only now going back to comment! I'm sorry!!
(This is what I get for using faves as my "say nice things about these" list.)
This piece actually inspired a scene for one of my (long in the works) stories because HOLY CARP does this sell foreboding and despair.
The young soldier in the foreground placed against the truly massive hill/mountain in the background just gives a taste of the sheer scale of the calamity waiting on the other side.
I can't help by hear "I See Fire" by Peter Hollens and imagine a town in flames. Good lord, the stories this piece brings to mind.
Keep up the awesome work, and sorry again for the dreadful delay.

I'm glad you found this piece so inspirational! I've been meaning to do a follow up piece to this for some time. I'd actually imagined him finding something akin to the Darvaza gas crater where once there was a rural town he'd known as a child. I really should write all this down sometime.
