This story is done with the assistance of
SkyTea 's Chex character. I wrote a story in my head, and I had the message in my head, but the more I wrote, the more murky it got, but I still feel I had a decent message. I usually shun having any of my plans ruined. I really need to embrace the madness and let go.As I clasped the warm milk in my thermos, I sat on the cold bench and started to look out into the open sky. I had a slight chill move up my spine from the cold bars on the bench, but I was plenty warm with my fur and my scarf keeping me heated up. I took a sip of my milk and let out a content purr, enjoying the cool air and the serene environment.
I stared up at the sky and enjoy the sight of the few clouds passing me by. I remembered how, as a cub, how I'd imagine what the shapes would look like, but, as an adult, the art seemed lost to me. I took another sip of milk and let out a slight sigh. It was a beautiful morning and I was gonna relax and...
"IIIIX!" I heard from behind me as two arms clasped my chest to pull me in for a hug. Noticing the grey and black fur patterns, I knew it was my friend Chex.
"Hey! What brings you out this way?" I asked, trying to turn around to return the hug.
"The bakery is coming out with a new donut today! They were being all secretive about it with me, but it comes out today and I finally get to try it! I wonder what it is?
"Maybe it could be a spinach donut?" I asked jokingly.
"Ewwwww, do they even make that?"
"I've heard that one place tried to make them as a way to eat healthier"
Chex shook me slightly, "No! They can't make that! We need to get there! Be positive! It won't be a healthy donut!"
A healthy donut seemed like an oxymoron to begin with, but she started to dash to the bakery as I started to bolt to catch up, jumping from the bench to follow her. Her sprint didn't last too long as she stared to huff a bit as I patted her on the back. I held her up a bit as she was catching her breath, keeping my thermos clutched in my hand.
"Don't get so excited, I'm sure it's some deliciously evil triple chocolate devils food cake or something. They wouldn't tease it if it wasn't gonna be good."
We slowly walked along the way as she commented, "Well, what kind do you think it'll be? That triple chocolate thingy sounds great!"
I smiled as I thought about it, "I really don't care so much about any of the types, just as long as they come out right from the fryer, that's when they're the best."
I took a sip from my milk as she pondered a bit more, "What about a quadruple chocolate donut! You know, filling the donuts with chocolate inside with devils food and chocolate icing and chocolate chips!"
I shot a glance at her as said, "Do you need some insulin with that too?"
She shook her head, "No, I don't need any drinks to go with that."
I was about to correct her about what insulin was when she caught the whiff of fresh donuts that were just being cooked at the bakery.
"DONUTS!" She exclaimed and started to burst again to the bakery. Being nearby, I felt she had a sporting chance of getting there in one full dash. We got to the front of the store and took a glance at all the pastries available to us, the smell of the shop entering our lungs as I took one long whiff, murring as I looked at the variety in the cases.
A fox came up to the counter and greeted us. "Hey Chex! I wasn't expecting you to come by and grab a few donuts," he remarked sarcastically by the chuckling noise he made.
"Oh, can it you! I heard there was a new donut and I wanted to try it! What is it? What is it?" Chex excited remarked, jumping up and down.
"Hold on, and I'll get one for you and your friend." The fox then went to the back room for a second and came back out, handing us, what looked like a normal filled donut. "Try it!"
I hesitated as Chex gladly chopped on hers quickly without asking what it was, "What is it?" I asked, looking at Chex's donut, now dribbling with a red and purple substance coming from the side.
He smiled and said "I always love jelly filled donuts, so I decided to try jelly bean filled donuts! With melted jelly beans filling!"
I looked as Chex woofed the rest of her donut down and smiled contently. "Wow! Quite delicious!"
I took a bite from it and I could tell the difference in texture, how the jelly was more sticky than the regular jam used, but still, sweeter and somewhat delicious. Not an exceptional donut, but still, one of the more "unique" donuts out there.
"Can I get some other donuts! My usual please!" Chex asked.
I jokingly interrupted, "Your usual? You keep a tab here too?"
"It's $35.60 right now," replied the fox. I shouldn't have been too shocked by the news since it was Chex, but I've never heard of a tab at a bakery before.
"He knows I'm good for it! I wouldn't forgo donuts for anything!"
I shook my head slightly as I just ordered two chocolate glazed donuts. Chex grabbed her bag and happily walked out with me as I noticed her chomping at her donuts without hesitation. I pulled out my donuts and ate them alongside Chex. We both finished at the same time and I finished off the last of my milk I had, now slightly cooler. She gave me another big hug and said, "Thanks for coming with me! It's more fun eating donuts with friends who appreciate them like me!"
I laughed as she let go and walked away, waving goodbye, "You take it easy!"
I waved and let out a content sigh, walking back to the bench, but didn't want to get my rear frozen again. I looked back at the path I walked by and realized the time I was going to spend just relaxing and enjoying the weather got hijacked from Chex.
A slight huff of disappointment came to me, feeling like my plans got ruined, but I shook my head, trying to get that thought out of my head. I got to spend time with a friend, I got to try a new donut, and got a little bit of exercise in. It's all about living in the moment and not trying to stay relaxed all the time. I'm sure I'll get to have time to myself later on to laze about, but I shouldn't discard any time that I get to spend with good friends and family. Life's too short to be by myself all the time anyway.
As I started getting a good feeling from the morning, I took a look at my scarf to find crumbs and glaze covering it. I let out a slight growl, knowing that washing my scarf was now an added chore for the day.

Hmm, I have a mini-crockpot type thing made for melting chocolates. I'll have to see what happens if I put jelly beans in there Wonder what a pink/purple/red jelly bean swirl would taste like
