I create worlds, and characters, and this is one of two characters together, that I wanted to create. Frey is essentially a god of death in my world. I haven't settled on this design for him, but it looks pretty nice. Frey has a twin named Froy as well, and they have slightly different characters, but Frey is the more interesting one for me.
Essentially they're ancient Lich-like beings, true spirits of undeath, kind of natural in the order of life and death. They're aware of Jolan and have interacted with him, but largely don't care too much about him as they entertain each other with their own games, once in a while venturing to the world of the living.
Frey likes 'dancing' a lot, which is his word for combat, or fighting. He'll often dance with someone till he tires of them, then killing them off.

What's the go with the half skulls around him? A helmet? his "true" face? A scarf?
I love the eyes, the shape of the iris, and that the pupil is the same shade of blue as the the rest of the orb. THe colour scheme in general is great on him.
Again, like the recent Fazar one, the quick looking style is really effective, as is the layered on colour style (I mean like with his hair, muzzle, etc) and the scriblle style on the shadows on the skulls.
And this sort of stuff is why you need to write, too! :D

The skulls are kind of 'wings' or sort of just, back standing adornments that kind of float behind him a bit. So you could say like a scarf, yeah. It's just part of his overall visage.
The eyes were a lot of fun to play with. I saw some other character with crazy eyes, and tried them out on Jolan, it looked nice, so I'm trying it more on otherworldly creatures like this dude to try and give them some supernatural feel to them. The Fazar pic took like 5 minutes, this one took like on and off an hour or so. Both were sketchy and fast relatively speaking. :)
I still want to write, thinking of doing it more.
