I can't speak for Fennectaur, but I can speak for Topaz since shi's mine!
Topaz is solid mostly. Shi does have bones and blood, but hir bones are made of dense harden plastic and hir blood is a more synthetic liquid rubber. Hir body is a mix of solid mass and air-filled cells.
So if you poke hir with something sharp, shi doesn't pop like a balloon, or ooze over the place like a jelly doughnut. Hir "blood" spills out and seals the wound up, then it starts to patch itself. Because of this, shi isn't exactly a lightweight, but shi isn't as heavy as a normal person would be either.
